A 35,000 square foot Mediterranean themed estate in the Mulholland Scenic Corridor high in the hills over Los Angeles. A chief design goal was to screen the massive structures from the city below, and preserve the majesty of the natural skyline along Mulholland Drive.
The focus of this project is on sustainability. Compliant with City Planning and Mulholland Scenic Corridor Design Review Board guidelines, all planting and irrigation was designed for low water usage.
Program elements included entry gates and perimeter fencing, parking courts, formalized play areas including a maze and ‘secret’ garden, pool and spa with adjacent arbor, a themed rockwork hillside as backdrop to the pool, native and/or drought tolerant plantings throughout and state of the art irrigation.
